Homemade Arrabiata Sauce


Arrabiata sauce is one of my favourite things ever when it comes to pasta, and at one stage, I panicked because I couldn’t find Rao’s Arrabiata sauce in Australia. I was thinking: OH NO! How am I gonna live? All the other sauces just don’t taste as good. I was determined to make a version that somewhat taste like it.

Although I don’t think this tastes exactly like Rao’s Arrabiata sauce, it’s good enough! I do think the difference lies with the tomatoes, and for Rao’s sauces, he uses these ultra high quality Italy imported tomatoes that I think must make a big difference. Anyway, this is really sweet without any added sugar! I also love that the extra virgin olive oil was able to be simmered in very low heat so that it doesn’t turn ugly. Continue reading

Soft and Chewy Vegan Carob Hazelnut Brownie Cake



I have been on a roll with trying to figure out how to make brownies chewy, soft and sticky, ever since I laid eyes and mouth on Dr.J’s carob brownies. OMFG that piece of heaven is literally the greatest brownie I have tasted. Curse geography that I don’t live close, because if I did, I would just go and buy one every day, but alas, I couldn’t as I’m across the other side of the country. Raw Vegan Chocolate Avocado Truffles


What? Seriously? You can use avocados for desserts and have it not taste terrible? I would’ve been skeptical about this a year ago, but it works so darn well I applaud whoever it was that came up with the idea of using avocados to make a chocolate dessert.

I think I first started using avocados as an ice cream base and ever since then, I learned that you can totally replace butter for avocado in just about anything. What’s great about a sweet version is the sweetness completely overrides the avocado taste, which all you really taste is a rich, chocolatey treat. Continue reading

Fruity Flatbreads with Figs, Star Fruits, Lemons and More


I’ve been dreaming and planning to make these for a few days now! Ever since I got a star fruit and bunch of figs for sale at the Asian grocery store, I’ve been obsessing with figuring out how to consume those little buggers!

I don’t know why this took me so long to think of. I have been working with crispy cracker like things for a while, but putting fruits on top just never crossed my mind until I saw this amazing recipe called Tile Flatbreads that had vegetables on top. Potato, Corn and Onion Tortilla Wraps with Sundried Tomatoes


GUESS WHAT! I finally found the type of tortilla I had been searching for. I am sad to say that the tortillas I find at the regular supermarket are all filled with saturated fat, and I tend to enjoy finding healthier or versions with less fat. I was ecstatic when I found these whole grain flour tortillas at Trader Joe’s last night, it really made my night because I would finally be able to make these wraps.
